Many parents at some point realize that their child is struggling in school.  If this is the case, you want to find good tutoring resources to help get your son or daughter back on track, before it is too late. There are a great variety of tutoring resources on the market, and many are designed for at home study.  This is great news for an interested parent, because there are tutoring resources that you can purchase, such as computer software, instructional books, and videos that you can use right at home.

Tutoring resources are best explored based on your child’s particular needs.  First, how old is your child?  Are you looking for extra help with grade-school level subject matter, or do you have a high school student who needs help with a foreign language or advanced mathematics?

Depending on the level of your child, different tutoring resources will be helpful.  For a small child, you may want to consider instructional videos and games.  These tools tap in to the “fun” of learning and help your child play their way to better performance in school.  For example, if your child is having trouble reading, there are many videos and even electronic games that teach phonics lessons.

For kids who are in middle school or older, tutoring resources need to be tailored to their more sophisticated learning styles.  There are many computer games, for example, that are designed for older kids but teach skills like foreign language, advanced math, sciences, and grammar.  These games mimic popular recreational games but include learning elements to jump start educational growth.

However, games alone may not be enough to solve a real learning issue for an older child.  You need to turn to tutoring resources that are designed more like the lessons taught in the classroom.  For these tutoring resources, seek out books and lesson plan materials that you can then teach to your child at home after school.  For example, a tutoring resource book may include simple to understand explanations of math concepts, followed by quizzes that can be taken at home.  This extra enforcement offered through tutoring resources can give kids the practice they need to master difficult subjects.
